Guy Pays $5,000 For A Lot And Suddenly Owns An Entire Street

0Points

Jason Fauntleroy showed up at a sheriffs auction in Trenton Ohio looking to snag a cheap vacant lot for five thousand dollars. He figured he could put a house on it someday. The sale papers had a surprise waiting for him though. Along with the lot came full ownership of Bloomfield Court the private street that ran past five other houses. That road used to belong to a homeowners association that had shut down so now the whole thing was his responsibility.

The city later decided they wanted the street back and started eminent domain proceedings to make it public. Their money offer only counted the empty lot and skipped the value of the road itself. Jason called the whole experience a nightmare and said the city kept him in the dark. Eventually everything got worked out and the city took over looking after the street. Talk about an auction that went way beyond what anyone expected.
